The NeverEnding Story
West Germany/USA, 1984, 102 min., Color
Come relive the ultimate family classic. THE NEVERENDING STORY is the tale of Bastian, a young boy who finds refuge in the most magical and enchanting book he’s ever read. In the story, a hero named Atreyu must save the land of Fantasia and prevent the death of the beautiful princess. As the epic journey continues, Bastian realizes that the book has been inexplicably writing itself and has absorbed Bastian himself into the story. It’s a callback to the golden years of practical effects and make-up, which is sorely lacking these days. The vast cast of memorable characters, including the timeless flying dragon-dog Falkor, are mesmerizing and make the film the fantasy classic that is still remembered today.
