Do you remember picking up a Highlights magazine as a kid? Whether it was getting a subscription in the mail or flipping through one at the doctor’s office, the magazine has been part of American culture for decades.
44 PAGES is an intimate behind-the-scenes look into the family-run business and the effort of creating the 70th anniversary issue. Director Tony Shaff reveals the rich history of Highlights and the thoughtfulness that is put into each element of the magazine. Working out of an old home in the small town of Honesdale, Pennsylvania, the Highlights team is genuine and passionate about their work. Since the magazine’s inception, family dynamics, technology and education have changed greatly, and the team shares the struggles of keeping Highlights relevant and modern for children today.
This heartwarming documentary will make you nostalgic for childhood—and those "Goofus and Gallant" and hidden picture cartoons.
